7 Best Mobile Phones for Youtube Vloggers in 2021

7 Best Mobile Phones for Youtube Vloggers in 2021

If you are Looking for the Best Phones for Vlogging in 2021, the time has come when you need a new phone. Maybe it has cracked or you accidentally dropped it during a concert. Maybe you just want an upgrade.

Having a smartphone has become a crucial device in helping you create quality content for your YouTube channel and you’re always on the go.

But which brand should you switch to? If you’ve been using the same brand for the past ten years, should you keep it or switch things up?

Let me help you make the right decision by explaining the latest phones in terms of YouTube vlogging. To get started, I’ll start us off with some of the most common options:

Why Use a Smartphone for Vlogging

Making money from Vlogging is an expensive venture that quickly costs more than it is worth.

You may need to invest in expensive cameras, wireless microphones, and other accessories to look professional for your vlog, but, as you might expect, the costs can escalate quickly.

The good news is that vlogging won’t drain your bank account no matter how much you spend on it.

As a starting point, it’s best not to invest too much in a camera.

Most of us carry a smartphone nowadays. Smartphones nowadays are smarter and more sophisticated than ever, and many of them contain features similar to those of a DSLR camera.

A lot of consumer devices from 2020 already have 4K recording capabilities on them. But guess what? Most real cameras aren’t even capable of this. So what if you want a camera that you carry around all day? The smartphone you have on you is the same piece of technology that you use to text, call and do social media using.

Video blogging with your smartphone is one of the benefits it provides over DSLRs, which require a lot of space in your pockets and a separate pocket for carrying.

Saving space is not a problem, as your phone will already be close by.

Taking this into consideration, let’s take a look at the best video vlogging phones of this year.

The Best Phones For Vlogging on YouTube In 2021

1. iPhone 11 (Best Phone for Vlogging)

Appli iPhone 11

Features:

  • Release: September 2019
  • Camera Quality: 12 MP, f/1.8, 26mm (wide), 12 MP, f/2.4, 13mm (ultrawide), 12 MP, f/2.2, 23mm (front)
  • Aperature: f/1.8 (wide) f/2.4 (ultrawide); f/2.2 (front)
  • Video Quality: [email protected]/30/60fps, [email protected]/60/120/240fps, HDR, stereo sound rec.
  • OIS: Yes
  • Chip: Apple A13 Bionic
  • Display: 6.1 inches, 90.3 cm2
  • Weight: 194 g (6.84 oz)
  • Dimensions: 150.9 x 75.7 x 8.3 mm (5.94 x 2.98 x 0.33 in)
  • Battery: Up to 17 h (multimedia)

Apple People are the kind of people I know. According to them, it’s either Apple or die.

Although their phone is less functional than many other best phones, they don’t appear to care. Apple is a big part of their identity, so they don’t care about the higher price.

You’ll be able to maintain your lifestyle with the iPhone 11 if you’re a vlogger who falls into this category.

Rather than a substantial improvement in the camera’s hardware, they achieved this through smarter software configurations.

The combination of two cameras on the device pairs well. The first enables color capture with outstanding clarity and the latter has a telephoto zoom, enabling it to capture details at long distances more effectively than just about any other smartphone on the market.

Its paired sensor plus new chipset means incredible speed, Smart HDR, and Depth Control. It is capable of capturing great shots in low-light settings (e.g. for subject detail when the sun is in the background).

It is important to remember that HDR isn’t given in full, but the phone does give noticeable improvements in video quality.

Not all vloggers need this phone. For those looking to shoot in low-light conditions, there is a better option.

Pros
  • Ease of use
  • Most compatible with other Apple products
  • New double camera
Cons
  • Expensive
  • Still lacks low-light abilities
  • Doesn’t offer as many features and functions as other options

Vloggers and YouTubers on a budget can get very dynamic footage on their iPhones, as they have access to most of the classic features you see in vlogs and YouTubers, including studio lighting effects.

2. Samsung Galaxy S20 (Phone for vloggers)

SAMSUNG Galaxy S20

Features:

  • Release: February 2020
  • Camera Quality: 12MP, 64MP (telephoto), 12MP [email protected] 30fps, [email protected]/60/240fps, [email protected]
  • Aperature: f/1.8, 2.0, 2.2-2.4 (rear); f/2.2 (front)
  • OIS: Yes
  • Chip: Exynos 990
  • Display: 6.2 inches, 93.8 cm2
  • Weight: 163 g (5.75 oz)
  • Dimensions: 151.7 x 69.1 x 7.9 mm (5.97 x 2.72 x 0.31 in)
  • Battery: Non-removable Li-Po 4000 mAh battery

A larger sensor on the Galaxy S20 makes it better for low-light recording compared to the iPhone 11.

Due to the size of the sensor, the camera is able to capture more light, making for a higher quality image with less interference when lighting is poor.

With the Samsung S20, you’ll record and take photos at night better than the iPhone 11.

Plus, you can get the S20 Ultra for even more amazing take-home photos.

It will also continue tracking your face as you move around when vlogging with Dual-Pixel autofocus, which is one of the most wonderful autofocus technologies on the market.

A telephoto lens on its camera has 64MP, which is a lot more than the 12-megapixel camera on the iPhone. It takes photos that have a greater degree of detail.

Although the camera does capture the Bokeh effect adequately (the beautiful blurry background), it falls short when it comes to doing so.

Pros
  • Amazing triple camera
  • Consistent video quality
  • Strong tracking autofocus
Cons
  • You could get the previous models and still get a similar phone
  • Expensive

This still remains one of my favorite vlogging cameras for its reliable autofocus and high quality in low light. The iPhone can achieve a more intense Bokeh, but it still remains one of my main choices.

3. Samsung Galaxy S10+

Samsung Galaxy S10 plus

Features:

  • Release: February 2019
  • Camera Quality: [email protected] (no OIS/EIS), [email protected], [email protected]/60/240fps, [email protected]
  • Aperature: Triple f/1.5-2.4 (rear); f/1.9 (front)
  • OIS: Yes
  • Chip: Exynos 9820
  • Display: 6.1 inches, 93.2 cm2
  • Weight: 157g (5.54 oz)
  • Dimensions: 149.9 x 70.4 x 7.8 mm (5.90 x 2.77 x 0.31 in)
  • Battery: Non-removable Li-Ion 3400 mAh battery

A phone from Samsung’s previous generation still makes this list, which says something.

The camera achieves a high degree of detail in every shot, whether they be still photographs or video. The video also proves that quality does not always derive from megapixels.

With its wide aperture and optical image stabilization, it’s perfect for vloggers who produce content at low light levels and on the move.

It should be noted, though, that even this older model of Samsung still finds a place in this list.

The camera achieves a high degree of detail in every shot, whether they be still photographs or video. The video also proves that quality does not always derive from megapixels.

This lens features a wider aperture and an optical image stabilization system, making it an ideal choice for video bloggers shooting on the go and in low-light conditions.

Despite the fact the phone does offer 4k, 1080p produces more quality video. This is mostly because 1080p is the highest quality setting where it still offers HDR and tracking autofocus. Some vloggers may be disappointed, but most will not require 4k quality video.

Pros
  • Amazing triple camera
  • Consistent video quality
  • Strong tracking autofocus
Cons
  • You could get the previous models and still get a similar phone

4. Google Pixel 3

Google Pixel 3

Features:

  • Release: October 2018
  • Camera Quality: 12.2MP dual-pixel (rear); 8MP wide-angle and normal FoV (front)
  • Aperature: f/1.8 (rear); f/2.2 (front wide angle); f/1.8 (front normal)
  • Video Quality: 4k, 1080p HD, 720p HD, 480p (30, 60, 120, or 240 fps)
  • OIS: Yes and electronic image stabilization
  • Chip: Qualcomm Snapdragon 845
  • Display: 5.5″
  • Weight: 6.66oz
  • Dimensions: 5.7″ x 2.7″ x 0.3″
  • Battery: Roughly 11 hours (wireless video playback)

The last few years may have seen Apple and Samsung dominate the camera phone market, but look for Google to officially end this with their Pixel 3 offering.

There may only be one lens on the phone, but it is far more capable than most two-lens phones.

With this phone, you will be able to get great low-light photos and videos. There is no other phone that performs this well. If you vlog at night or in low light frequently, there is no doubt that this is the phone for you.

You can distinguish the difference in quality easily in a blind comparison between the Pixel 3 and most other smartphones.

These quality images come mostly from sophisticated software and sophisticated camera hardware rather than flashy camera hardware.

A large part of the Pixel 3’s problems is with the front touchscreen camera and the zoom. The front camera makes for distorted images at times, and it still lacks the nice zooming that other phones have.

An aspect of the Pixel 3 that may appeal to some vloggers is the quality of the camera on the front—it’s good. Vloggers who prefer shooting from the front will appreciate the results the Pixel 3 provides.

Pros
  • Excellent auto focus
  • Impressive low-light functionality
  • Consistent stabilization
Cons
  • No real optical zoom
  • Expensive
  • Only offers 30fps at 4k

5. LG V30+

LG V30

Features:

  • Release: October 2017
  • Camera Quality: Dual 16MP standard angle (rear); 13MP wide-angle (rear); 5MP (front)
  • Aperature: Dual f/1.6 (rear standard angle); f/1.9 (rear wide-angle); f/2.2(front)
  • Video Quality: 4k, 1080p, 720p (30 and 60 fps)
  • OIS: Steady Record 2.0
  • Chip: Qualcomm Snapdragon 835
  • Display: 6″
  • Weight: 5.57oz
  • Dimensions: 5.97″ x 2.97″ x 0.29″
  • Battery: Roughly 15 hours (wireless video playback)

The V30+ may go over the heads of Vloggers who have not researched it much. LG didn’t advertise it heavily like Samsung, Google, and Apple did with theirs. But this does not mean it is something different.

In addition to its 16MP and 13MP lenses on the back, the V30+ also has a few other features that allow it to provide professional quality videography.

Additionally, it can shoot in dimensions that most other phones aren’t able too. More specifically, at 30fps the phone offers videos at 3840 x 2160p.

In conclusion, my review wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the V30+’s features. Simply put, I and my colleagues have only seen this many photography and videography functions and features on mirrorless and DSLR cameras.

Pros
  • Feature-rich
  • Log profile
  • Incredible color vibrancy
Cons
  • Weak software in some areas
  • Poor front-facing camera quality
  • Expensive

6. Huawei P30 Pro

Huawei P30 Pro

Features:

  • Rear Camera: 40 MP, f/1.8, 27mm (wide) + 20 MP, f/2.2, 17mm (ultrawide) + 8 MP, f/2.4, 80mm (telephoto)
  • Front Camera: 32 MP, f/2.0, (wide) – Video: [email protected]
  • OIS: Huawei AI Image Stabilization
  • Chip: Huawei Kirin 980
  • Display: 6.39″
  • Weight: 6.66oz
  • Dimensions: 6.21″ x 2.8″ x 0.33″
  • Battery: Roughly 19 hours (wireless video playback)

If you’re a Vlogger and you need a good all-around camera phone, then Huawei’s P30 Pro is the best option. It takes great photos under almost any lighting conditions, it has a good zoom, and its video quality is top-notch.

Although we talked about the zoom on the camera, I must emphasize that the range is impressive—it can capture, and capture it well, on a zoom range of 0.6x to 5x optical and up to 50x with AI-assisted zoom.

However, when shooting in optimal lighting conditions, the camera is comparable to a DSLR camera.

Finally, at both 4k @30fps and 1080p @60fps, there is great stabilization.

Pros
  • Best phone camera on the market
  • Impressive pro features
  • AI triple camera
Cons
  • Expensive
  • Google’s Huawei ban prohibited app updating from the Google Play Store. We still don’t know what will happen.

7. OnePlus 6

OnePlus 6

Features:

  • Release: March 2018
  • Camera Quality: Dual 20MP (rear); 16MP (rear); 16MP (front)
  • Aperature: f/1.7 (rear 20MP); f/1.7 (rear 16MP); f/2.0 (front)
  • Video Quality: 1080p HD, 720p HD (30 fps)
  • OIS: Yes and electronic image stabilization
  • Chip: Qualcomm Snapdragon 845
  • Display: 6.28″
  • Weight: 6.2oz
  • Dimensions: 6.13″ x 2.97″ x 0.31″
  • Battery: Roughly 9 hours (wireless video playback)

The phone’s excellent videography and the clever way it emphasizes front and rear-facing cameras make it obvious why the phone was built for vloggers.

In addition, the phone provides a resolution of 3840 x 2160 at 30 frames per second, which is the same as that of the LG V30+.

Cameras with this size sensor can perform well in low light. Additionally, Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) advance their performance even further.

An additional feature that makes it perfect for vloggers is the ease of use. For those who don’t want to work out how to use every feature, the OnePlus 6 works well.

Finally, it offers slo-mo recording at 480fps. This means vloggers that like this stylistic touch can enhance the quality of their vlogs considerably.

Pros
  • Affordable
  • High-quality front-facing camera abilities
  • Strong stabilization
Cons
  • Lacks strong zoom capabilities
  • Lacks the highest resolution recording options
  • Doesn’t offer as many advanced features as other phones

Don’t Forget Your Add-Ons

If you end up choosing a smartphone you’ll need something to take selfies with. Here are a few selfie stick options you can use directly from Amazon. Additionally, make sure you have a microphone for taking interviews. There are cheap ones on Amazon that are best for audio.

If you get these inexpensive accessories and a fast micro-SD card, you’ll be ready to start your vlogging career.

And finally, you can check here the best cameras for vlogging.

Conclusion

A great camera phone is one that is unreachable for vloggers. But there is a proliferation of equipment out there, so picking and choosing an appropriate model can be difficult. Knowing what you need is the first step.

My preferred best phones for vlogging now in 2021 are all on this list, but if you want to know what you want, do your research and do your homework before making your final choice.

Several other great mobile phones for vlogging are available, with some of those that could fit your vlogging needs more too, with niche bloggers preferring very specific functions and features. At the end of the day, it’s worth putting in the time to research effectively.
