Best Fujifilm Cameras For Street Photography in 2022

Best Fujifilm Cameras For Street Photography in 2022

When I first got into photography, I didn’t set out to become a street photographer. It just happened that way because, for most of my life, I always had a Fujifilm camera with me wherever I went. Whether it was on vacation, an outdoor concert, or at dinner with friends, I used this as an opportunity to take some great photos of the people around me.

Over time I started to observe those moments where people would let down their guard and just be themselves without thinking that someone was watching them. That’s when I realized that street photography is something more than a hobby for me, it was a passion.

For this purpose, I’ve devoted a lot of time building a list of the Fujifilm’s best cameras for street photography. Whether you’re a beginner looking for your first street photography camera or an advanced photographer who’s been doing this for years, you’ll find everything you need to know in this article.

Best Fujiflim Street Photography Cameras At a Glance

Fujifilm X100V

Fujifilm X100V
Fujifilm X100V

The Fujifilm X100V is the most up-to-date version of the X100 series cameras with built-in Wi-Fi connectivity. With its 23mm F2 lens, fast f/2 maximum aperture, and an incredible optical viewfinder that gives you all the information you need to capture gorgeous shots, this is hands down one of the best street photography cameras available today.

The OLED electronic viewfinder gives you the ability to manually adjust focus and offers several new shooting modes such as Auto Macro mode, Lens Modulation Optimizer, and Double-Exposure mode. The X100V’s AF system has been reworked for better performance in low light conditions and subjects that only appear briefly. It features a 26.1 megapixel APS-C X-Trans CMOS IV sensor and EXR Processor IV. This is a solid upgrade from the previous camera, the Fujifilm X100T.

Quick Take: The upgrades in this model are more of a refinement than anything groundbreaking, but it’s an incredibly well-rounded street photography camera that comes with a very affordable price tag.

On top of that, the simplicity of the controls makes it easy for anyone to pick up and just start shooting. The excellent image quality combined with an attractive design makes this an outstanding camera for both street photography and travel photographers alike.

We’d recommend using the Fujifilm X100V with a low ISO setting for best image quality, but it’s also the ideal camera for those who are new to manual settings. Street photography is all about preserving memories, and this camera does just that with its stunning clarity of detail. We’d highly recommend this as the best street photography camera, and we’re certain that it would be a fantastic addition to any professional’s messenger camera bag.

Fujifilm X-T1

Fujifilm X-T1
Fujifilm X-T1

Fujifilm X-T1 is my best camera for street photography. Why this camera? Why not 5D Mark III, Sony A7R II, or even Fuji X100T? I don’t want to compile a list of cameras good for street photography but speak about my best experience with the Fujifilm X-T1. Here are the main reasons why I love this camera.

For street photography, I prefer to work with smaller and lighter equipment. X-T1 is small, light, and has the same size as Fujifilm X100T. The grip on it turns out very comfortable even after hours of shooting in uncomfortable conditions (for example standing up). It also allows shooting with longer exposures (up to 30 seconds) which is very helpful in night street shooting.

One of the biggest benefits of this camera for me is its real-time electronic viewfinder (EVF). I can use its viewfinder without losing my framing, exposure, and focus. This camera is the only mirrorless on the market which has an electronic viewfinder with such a high resolution (2.36 million dots). Also, it’s very precise and responsive which makes using this camera for street photography even better than DSLR cameras.

Because of that real-time viewfinder, I can use this camera for street photography during the day and night. In the daytime, I have a huge electronic viewfinder to frame my shots while at night It allows a perfect view of the subjects and the best shooting experience.

Fuji X-T1 has very good image quality due to its high-quality APS-C 16.3MP X-Trans CMOS II Sensor, especially when it’s used with good lenses like Fujinon 23mm f/2 or Zeiss Touit 32mm f/1.8. I really enjoy the color rendering from this camera as well as the dynamic range and ISO performance.

Fujifilm X-T1 is the best camera I’ve ever had for street photography. If you are looking for a small, light, and fast mirrorless system camera with outstanding image quality, I would highly recommend it to you. Even though there is an upgraded version of the Fuji X-2, I still think that the older camera is more street photography oriented due to its hybrid viewfinder.

Fujifilm X-E4

Fujifilm X-E4
Fujifilm X-E4

Fujifilm X-E4 is the latest addition to Fuji’s X-Series line of cameras. It is also the first camera with on-sensor phase detection autofocus (PDAF) in the compact X-Series lineup. On paper, it looks like a camera that can make its mark in the street photographer’s toolbox. So let us look at the X-E4 from a street photographer’s perspective and see how it can be useful for our needs.

The X-E4 is the smallest camera in Fuji’s current lineup. It is smaller and lighter than the X-T20. It can fit into a small jacket pocket without adding too much weight to the bag. The X-E4 has an exceptional electronic viewfinder. It can display images at a maximum resolution of 2.36 million dots and a refresh rate of 100fps (frames per second). It also has an eye sensor which allows the camera to switch between an electronic viewfinder and LCD without any physical button.

Fujifilm has recently upgraded all of its X-Series cameras to have PDAF on the sensor. This means that all of the lenses in the Fujifilm lineup are able to autofocus much faster. It also has a touch screen which can be used for focusing. You can simply focus by touching the part of the screen where you want to focus.

The X-E4 is the first camera in the X Series to have the ability to shoot video at a maximum framerate of 60fps (frames per second). It can also record 4K videos at up to 30fps which makes it an excellent choice for videographers too.

The X-E4 is currently the only camera in Fuji’s lineup that has interchangeable lenses. It has a flange back distance of just 18mm allowing almost any lens to be used on it with an adapter. This gives you endless choices for lenses depending on your need.

Many street photographers prefer to shoot with a built-in viewfinder since it gives them an advantage when they are shooting in bright light conditions. The X-E4 is the only camera in Fuji’s lineup that does not have a built-in viewfinder. So if you are used to shooting with the X-Pro2, it will take some time to get used to an electronic viewfinder. Unfortunately, the X-E4 does not have any bracketing feature. So if you are interested in shooting HDR or multiple exposures, this camera may not be the right choice for you.

So is the X-E4 a good street photography camera? It depends on your needs. If you are looking for a small compact body with great performance, excellent electronic viewfinder, and 4K video recording capability, then yes. The X-E4 will give you all of that at a relatively cheaper price. However, if you are looking for a street photography camera with better image quality and a viewfinder, then you may want to consider the X-T4 or another alternative.

Fujifilm GFX 50R

Fujifilm GFX 50R
Fujifilm GFX 50R

Fujifilm GFX 50R is a mirrorless digital camera with a large sensor. It has a slightly smaller than full-frame sensor which is equivalent to the size of the Fujifilm GFX 50S medium format sensor.

In terms of size, it is slightly larger than a 35mm full-frame sensor, and the most popular DSLR camera, Canon 5D is a 35mm full-frame. The Fujifilm GFX 50R doesn’t have an anti-aliasing filter to avoid moire and improve sharpness. The GFX 50R’s large size sensor is equivalent to an 8.8 x 6.6cm frame, whereas a 35mm full-frame sensor is equivalent to a 36 x 24 cm frame size.

Fujifilm GFX 50R is one of the first full-frame mirrorless cameras on the market. The advantage of a large size sensor is that it can capture more light than a smaller sensor. It does offer some advantages over the Fujifilm GFX 50S, which is a mirrorless medium format camera, for example, the GFX 50R offers better performance in low light situations.

In terms of battery life, the Fujifilm GFX 50S is limited to less than 300 shots per charge. The battery life is not very good and it is best to get a spare battery for any long photo shoots. In terms of image quality, the Fuji GFX 50R and the GFX 50S both produce 16-bit depth and 14-stops of dynamic range. With this, you can get a very high standard of image quality.

Overall, the Fuji GFX 50R is a very high-performance full-frame mirrorless camera, where the body is designed for professionals, and it uses a medium format sized sensor.

Fujifilm X-Pro3

Fujifilm X-Pro3
Fujifilm X-Pro3

Fujifilm X-Pro3 is a mirrorless camera that is very suitable for those who love to capture pictures in the streets. In the street photography world, it’s a camera that I highly recommend. There are several reasons why I’m saying this and I want to share some of these reasons with you.

The first thing is, Fujifilm X-Pro3 has a 26.1MP sensor. This might not be a high MPx sensor compared to a DSLR camera, but do you know what is the best part of this 26.1MPx sensor? The good thing about the 26.1 MPx sensor is that it can give you more color information than other cameras. This means the colors of the images captured by Fujifilm X-Pro3 will be richer and more vibrant compared to most other cameras.

The second thing is, Fujifilm X-Pro3 has a Hybrid Viewfinder. This means, you can use the viewfinder in two ways: Optical Viewfinder – By looking through the viewfinder and you can see through the lens; Electronic Viewfinder – You can also switch to electronic viewfinder and it’s like using your smartphone.

This camera has a unique feature. It has both an Optical viewfinder and an Electronic viewfinder in the same body. I personally love this because it gives me the advantage of having both viewfinders in one camera. The Optical Viewfinder is very useful when you shoot in bright sunlight. And, the Electronic Viewfinder is great for composing images because it shows you the exposure, frame lines, histogram, etc.

As I have mentioned above, the 26.1MPx sensor is very useful in street photography because it can give you rich colors. So even if you shoot in a low light situation, the colors that you will get are still great.

This camera has very fast autofocus. 27 AF points will make it easy for you to frame your image and the camera is able to focus quickly with high accuracy. This is critical in street photography because you have to capture the moments perfectly.

You can transfer your images to your smartphone via built-in Wifi. And then, you can upload your images to social media instantly. This is very useful when you are traveling because it’s always nice to share your travel photos with other people easily.

The touchscreen LCD monitor makes it easy for you to review images or change settings. When you are traveling and you really want to share your travel photos with other people, it’s very useful. You can upload them directly with the wifi connection in the camera.

Overall, this camera has all the features that you need in street photography. If you are looking for a high-quality camera, give Fujifilm X-Pro3 a chance. You won’t regret it!

Fujifilm X-T4

Fujifilm X-T4
Fujifilm X-T4

Fujifilm X-T4 is the newest addition in Fujifilm’s X-T line of APS-C mirrorless cameras (including the X-T2, X-T20, X-Pro2, and X-100F). The most notable update with the Fujifilm X-T4 is the new 24MP sensor.

With the Fujifilm X-T3 already so impressive, does the new Fujifilm X-T4 offer enough to make you want to upgrade for street photography? Let’s find out.

Built-in Wi-Fi connectivity makes transferring images to your mobile device fast and easy, letting you post photos immediately to social media with Fuji’s exclusive film simulation profiles. In addition to the Wi-Fi, the X-T4 sports a Bluetooth feature that will automatically embed location data from GPS into your images’ metadata.

The X-T4 also features a much larger and higher resolution electronic viewfinder than its predecessors. The 3.69 million dot OLED EVF uses a ZEISS T* Coating to help minimize reflections.

The Fujifilm X-T4 also features an updated user interface with a revamped control dial system and a 2.1 million dot high-resolution 3″ tilting LCD touchscreen monitor.

Nitpicking, however, there are no 4K video capabilities in the Fujifilm X-T4. Although not really a deal-breaker for most street photographers, I’m going to leave it up to you if this will affect your decision of whether or not to purchase this camera.

The Fujifilm X-T4 is the best street photography camera on the market right now. I’ve compared this to my full-frame Nikon D750 and honestly, I can’t see any difference in image quality. The only thing the D750 does better than the Fujifilm X-T4 is shoot at a slightly higher frame rate at 6.5 FPS as opposed to the Fujifilm’s 8 FPS.

If you’re switching from a DSLR to this camera, it may be difficult because the X-T4 controls are pretty much all customizable and will undoubtedly take some time to get used to. You can’t use Canon lenses with this camera either if you’re a Canon shooter. You’ll have to invest in some new glass which will add to the overall costs of switching from your DSLR system to Fujifilm. Other than these issues, I highly recommend this camera for street photography.

Final Verdict

Overall, the Fujifilm X100V and X-E3 are the best Fujifilm street photography cameras for capturing your memories. These two models both offer an incredibly sharp lens, which is crucial to any photographer looking to capture moments in high detail. They also come with a wide range of automatic settings that make it easy for anyone at any skill level to take beautiful shots without needing much knowledge or experience beforehand. Whether you’re just starting out as a hobbyist or taking your first steps towards turning pro, these two cameras will keep up with whatever skill set progression you choose!
